TEJAS YOGA: Gentle Yoga and Gong Bath Meditation with James Tennant & Benjamin Savage

James and Benjamin team up to give you a liberating experience you won’t want to miss. Through gentle postures and basic dynamic movement, James will lead a physical practice emphasizing the six directions of mobility of the spine and unraveling tension in the lower back, neck and shoulders. The goal is to free up the spine, target common areas of cumulative daily tension and create an increased sensitivity to the subtle body. Through breath work and concentration techniques we’ll feel more present and cultivate an internally focused state of mind.

Benjamin will thoughtfully use an assortment of musical instruments, including gongs, singing bowls and chimes to bolster the benefits of the 50-minute class. There will be a 10-minute silent intermission for tea or a restroom break. You can also use this time for meditation.

The remainder of the time will be a 1-hour gong bath meditation led by Benjamin. During this time, you will make yourself as comfortable as possible either lying down, in a seated meditating position or a combination of both throughout.

The physical portion of the class will be All Levels. Please speak with James if you have any physical conditions or health concerns which may lead to modifying the practice.

During the meditation portion of the class: Please bring layers to maintain warmth. Blankets and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own meditation cushion, pillow or eye mask to enhance your comfortability.
